Here is a recap from our Parent Connection meeting held at Indian Lakes Resort in March, 2005.
The Parent Connection meeting went well, despite a relatively low turnout. We had about 15 attendees. The parents seemed to connect well with each other and Barb Sims was able to provide some great answers and resources for the parents. Karen Meyer was quite entertaining. She talked about growing up deaf in the 60’s and 70’s, and how different things are now, how parent’s have lots more choices avaible to them. The parents seemed to enjoy her. Jane Holtz, Tina Childress and Debbie DiAnni also provided some great input.
We were also told that HEAR and ISRC have had their funding sources cut. As of July 1st, they will no longer be able to provide services unless they can get their funding restored.
After our meeting broke, the parents went upstairs to the ITHI (Illinois Teachers of the Hearing Impaired) Conference and walked through the vendor display area.
