Rush University Research Project…

A research project is being done at Rush University on memory and lipreading.  This is an exciting opportunity to have a positive impact on the education of future generations of children with hearing loss.

Please see the attached parent letter that describes the project. Here is a list of the criteria that the children must meet:

  • Children 6-12 years of age
  • Either hearing aid or cochlear implant users (degree of hearing loss unimportant)
  • Receiving some kind of educational intervention by 3 years of age
  • Primarily oral communicators, but could use sign to supplement
  • Native English speakers or bilingual families that are fluent in English

If your child meets the above criteria, you may contact Dr. Stiles directly at ChildHearingLab@rush.edu.

Captionfish has IPhone app!

The Captionfish iPhone application is now available in the US! You can learn more about this at http://www.captionfish.com/iphone .  If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can proceed to iTunes from the Download link on that page.

Not only can you find locations of captioned and described movies in your area, but you can now watch captioned trailers, find showtimes, movies & theater details while on the go.  Many hours of hard work went into it to make this possible.
