The National Association of the Deaf (NAD), founded in 1880, is the
oldest and one of the largest consumer organizations representing people with disabilities in the United States.  The NAD is dedicated to
promoting leadership and providing role models for youth who are deaf or hard of hearing, leading to the formation of Junior NAD chapters throughout the United States. The Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD) chapter of Junior NAD is offering a Leadership summit for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, grades 9 to 12.  ISD is located on a 55 acre campus in Jacksonville, Illinois and has excellent facilities  with a comprehensive educational program.  The Summit is limited to the first 25 eligible applicants.  Students will live in a dormitory with two to a room on the ISD campus, eat meals in the cafeteria and attend leadership sessions in the ISD Career Technical Education Center (CTEC).  The Summit will open June 14 after 1:00 p.m., and close at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19.  Contact ISD at (217) 479-4200 for registration and further information.
