Course Description
Please join us for an informational seminar highlighting the benefits of bilateral hearing for children with hearing loss. The latest advancements in the medical management of hearing impairment, with special emphasis on bilateral rehabilitation, will be discussed in conjunction with developments in cochlear implant technology. Time will be provided to speak with professionals and manufacturers’ representatives as well as parents of children with hearing loss. Light refreshments will be served.

I am happy to announce a new Parent Workgroup.  This group was established under Ginger Mullin’s Illinois Newborn Hearing Program.

The purpose of the group is to review materials created by professionals to ensure that they are parent-friendly, and create any new documents as needed.  Some of the materials we will be reviewing can be found on the illinoissoundbeginnings.org web site.

The first date of the Parent Workgroup is Monday, October 19th and the second is Thursday, November 12th. All parents must have a child with hearing loss.  Feel free to pass this along.  All parents will be compensated.  Please contact me for details.

The National Cued Speech Association through our Children’s Deaf Literacy Project is launching their first annual Readathon for this October.  They are looking for “Point people” for various schools.  If you are willing, please contct Mary-Beth Robie and giving her the name of your school and any contact information you have.  They woruld like to sign up participants in August,  If you don’t want to be the “point person”, but can think of others, or if you can even think of other schools who will be willing to participate in this, pass along the information!
