Guide By Your Side (GBYS), a parent to parent support system for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing is serving Illinois families. Since GBYS started in May we have had 37 families referred to our program to be matched with Parent Guides!! This is a terrific start to the program, however we need to continue to raise money so that we can continue to serve families.
Are you shopping for the holidays? Attending a wedding? Going on a vacation? Consider purchasing gift cards to use towards your purchases!! Not only will you be able to get your shopping done you will also be raising money for Guide By Your Side!
Better yet, if you purchase a $100 or more in gift cards before November 5, 2009 you will get a free gift!!
Want to get started? Here’s how:
- Go to www.shopwithscrip.com (this is where you can view the list of participating stores too!)
- Click on the “Get Started” section of the tool bar, click. On the left there is a section to click to “Register” your family with Scrip and that your purchase will benefit the IL Hands & Voices Guide By Your Side program (ID# ED2CCL6419145). You only need to do this step the first time you use shop with scrip.
- Then go to the “My account” section of the tool bar, click. On the left hand side there is a tab to click called “Presto Pay”. Setting up your presto pay account is so you can pay using your checking account for all your shop with scrip purchases. After you set up your presto pay account 2 small deposits will be made into your checking account – once you see those deposits (it may take 2 days for the deposits to post) have been made into your account you will note the amounts deposited and return to the shop with scrip website. Log in and click on “my accounts”. Under that tool bar is a light blue box that reads: Your presto pay account has not been verified. Click here to verify. Click here, register the two amounts that were deposited and you are good to go! You only need to do this step the first time you use shop with scrip.
- After you are verified for presto pay you can go to the “order scrip” section of the tool bar. Select the gift cards you would like pay with presto pay and you are done! The gift cards are mailed to me; I will sort them and either mail or deliver them to you (depending on how close you live to me)! Last day to order is Nov. 5th, and then I will close and process the order. You will receive your gift cards in the mail 7-10 days after that.
It’s that easy. After your first shop with scrip purchase all you would have to do for future purchases is log in and order! So, don’t delay…order those holiday gift cards today!!

NOTE: If you have not purchased gift cards through shop with scrip yet then make sure you sign up for your presto pay account early as it take 2-3 days to set up your account!!
